As much as Breath Of The Wild, and Tears Of The Kingdom are receiving incredible praise and success in their new approaches to the classic formula of the series I have to say I'm one that honestly misses the old traditions.
The new games let you explore a massive open world with Ubisoft style towers to unlock the map,
The "Shrines" are simple remakes of what dungeons once were but a lot lazier in my opinion.
Weapons break so you never have the chance to feel their strength and adapt to what you prefer.
The story is the typical "I HAVE AMNESIA[Meme]" that is done so lazily in a lot of stories with Link lacking the heart and personality of previous games have done with him.
The older games had such a unique and outstanding voice when it came to their personality and design.
You had memorable characters like The Running Mailman, The Happy Mask Salesman, Skullkid, Navi, Tingle, Saria,
The music was phenomenal, iconic and you could tap your feet to it and enjoy them so much more. How many people who like the franchise can say they remember the music from BOTW compared to Sarias Song, Lost Woods, The Haunting Music from Majoras Mask, Hyrule Fields, as well
You had amazing dungeons that gave you items such as The Hookshot, Bomb-Oms, Bombchus, Bow/Arrow with specialized arrows, Ocarina to play music to solve puzzles, Iron Boots to stick to walls magnetically and go underwater, specialized tunics to keep you from dying by the heat or drowning. BOTW and Tears Of The Kingdom have none of this kind of esthetic which is disappointing
The Bosses felt memorable as well in older games than anything in BOTW/TOTK. In the older games you had Phantom Ganon in the Forest Temple, you had a dragon in the Fire Temple, in Majoras Mask you had a really cool big statue fighting you and Skull Kid himself with Majoras Mask. Every boss encounter felt like a puzzle in of itself.
TOTK gives you Banjo Kazooie Nuts and Bolts features with their create vehicles to get around aspect that just makes me face Palm.
Everyone praises the new Zelda games as the best thing for the franchise and considers them masterpieces I guess I'm the majority that would rather a more fun and memorable experience than just another open world title.
